Zebras duo given help
Kadeem Abraham and Romeika Brangman are the latest recipients of funding raised by the PHC Foundation Scholarship Charity, established two years ago to financially assist Zebras footballers with their academic endeavours.
Teenaged winger Abraham, who plays for PHC's Under 18 youth squad, is at Bermuda College but is due to begin studies at Savannah College of Art and Design next January, while Brangman is studying early childhood education abroad at Georgia State University.
Since 2006, the PHC Foundation has granted scholarships to individuals who have represented the Warwick -based club for a minimum of seven years and it also helps to supplement various other athletic programmes and miscellaneous projects at the club.
PHC defender Robert Richardson was the first beneficiary of the scholarship scheme.
"The Foundation was set up by PHC to put structure to its scholastic support of its members with funds raised through fund raising events and private donations," explained PHC Foundation secretary O'Shandah Ming.
Mark Wade, PHC vice- president and sports chairman, added: "We at PHC strive to support the whole athlete - both socially and through athletics - building valuable and productive people.
"PHC has financially supported players and students for a very long time as late Dame Lois Browne -Evans was a recipient."
The PHC Foundation consists of president Neil Clemens, vice-president Deuntay Darrell, treasurer Rahjee Shakir and secretary Ming whose son Tre also plays for the club and has represented Bermuda at the national youth level.
