Police said the incident occurred after the victim bumped into his attacker and turned around to apologise.

His assailant disappeared into the crowd. Police are looking for a 24-year-old Pembroke man in connection with the attack.

The Police officer sustained numerous cuts to his face and neck, but did not require hospital treatment.

VISITOR HURT IN CRASH AC Visitor hurt in crash A visitor riding an auxiliary cycle was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after colliding with a tree on Saturday.

The accident took place just after 10.a.m. as the man was travelling east along South Road, in Southampton.

Police said the man apparently tried to make a U-turn, but lost control of the bike and went down the embankment of Sonesta Beach Hotel & Spa property, then hit a tree. He received bruises to the right side of his chest and the back of his neck.

POLICE STATION TO REOPEN POL Police station to reopen The Somerset Police Station is set to reopen after several months of extensive renovations.

A Police spokeswoman said the station was due to become operational "within a few days''.

While the work -- which was originally set to be completed in April -- was done at the facility, Western Division officers moved operations to the old Canadian Forces Base at Daniel's Head.

GAS BLAST AT HOME FIR Gas blast at home Fire fighters rushed to a Pembroke home where a gas explosion had taken place.

A Bermuda Fire Services spokesman said a report of a structural fire at a residence on Footbridge Lane came in to the station at 11.28 a.m.

Crews responded and discovered an explosion had taken place due to a faulty connection between the gas line and the stove at the home.

It was not known whether the fire was out on their arrival.

The female occupant suffered first degree burns to her face, right arm and feet and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital from where she was later released.

The spokesman said an estimated $700 worth of damage was done to the stove, a wooden partition and kitchen cabinets.
