Mystery of USA boat found adrift in ocean
Mystery surrounds a boat towed into shore after being found adrift off Sandys.
It is believed the 25-foot powercraft, which has twin engines, may belong to the US Government.
It was taken to the Police vehicle pound in Prospect for further investigations.
According to a spokesman for Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre, the vessel was spotted by a local boater around 9.30 a.m. on Saturday, one nautical mile west-north-west of Wreck Hill.
"There was no evidence of persons in the water and, by the barnacles, it was evident it had been in the water for some months and drifted down to Bermuda from offshore," he said.
The spokesman said there were US markings on the boat and a suspicion it belongs to the US Government, although no further information was available.
