Miss Storey, 23, plans to start studying for a Ph.D. in history and modern languages at Oxford University in October.

The elder daughter of Mr. Donald and Mrs. Elizabeth Storey of Wreck Hill, she attended Bermuda High School, Millfield School in England and Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire.

In 1989 she went to Harvard University and studied the Italian Renaissance, graduating last year with a Bachelor of Arts with highest honours.

She is now working in the Gregorian Institute of the Vatican in Rome, where her subjects are classical Greek, mediaeval Latin and the study of ancient writing.

Miss Storey is a competitive sailor and a qualified sailing instructor.
