Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said they had received complaints from residents about letters from Prince Obi Ezeh.

The letters are postmarked from either Queens or Brooklyn, New York City and contain details of a business proposal from the Prince who claims to be a senior accountant with the Federal Ministry of Aviation in Lagos, Nigeria.

The note said investors stood to gain 45 percent of the lucrative proceeds, but first had to disclose the name and address of their bank, their account number and their name and telephone and fax numbers.

Mrs. James Barnett said the Commercial Crime Unit had received 50 to 60 inquiries and warned locals of the danger in responding to unsolicited mail.

For some years, letters from Nigerians offering vast financial sums from unused loans have been circulating in Bermuda and around the world.

SEWAGE REPORT PROBED SHI Sewage report probed Police are investigating reports that a cruise ship dumped sewage into St.

George's Harbour.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said Police went to Penno's Wharf just after midnight yesterday after receiving reports that the Dreamward had been pumping sewage.

No sewage was found during the search. A second search at around 7 a.m.

yesterday was also fruitless, but no sewage was found although there was a strong smell in the area.

STAB VICTIM TREATED CRM Stab victim treated A stabbing victim yesterday refused all Police attempts to assist him.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said a 32-year-old Hamilton Parish man showed up at St. George's Police Station at 11 p.m. on Monday with a deep stab wound.

The wound, on the man's left side, exposed his ribs.

When Police tried to take the man to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, he became agitated and left the Police vehicle.

An ambulance was called and took the man away for treatment. The man required 45 stitches to close the stab wound.

He later returned to the Police Station and declined further Police involvement.

MOTORBOAT STOLEN CRM Motorboat stolen Police are investigating the theft of a new 13-foot motorboat.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said a 33-year-old St. George's man reported the theft of the silver/grey Quicksilver 13-foot boat just after 2 p.m. on Monday.

The boat -- which had a two horsepower Yamaha outboard engine -- was last seen by its owner at its Ferry Reach mooring on Saturday. When he returned on Monday, the boat was gone.

And Police are also investigating a break-in and theft from a Crisson Avenue, Pembroke home.

The burglary is believed to have taken place between 6.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m.

on Monday.

GOLFERS GET WARNING CRM Golfers get warning Police say they will be watching closely for unknown persons believed in the Cedar Park/Prospect area who have been hitting golf balls in the direction of Orange Valley School's playing field and car park.

Police were called to the school on Monday after complaints from the principal who found ten golf balls on the field.

The hitting of the golf balls in the direction of the school is a potentially serious threat to the school's special students and staff.

NO-WAKE ZONE VIOLATED POL No-wake zone violated Marine Police will crack down on boaters who continue to disobey the no-wake regulations in Mangrove Bay between Quinton's and Gray's Points.

In a prepared statement, a Police spokeswoman said there was a 100-metre restricted area in the West End area.

However Police patrols discovered the five-knot no-wake regulation is not being followed.

Anyone found breaking this regulation in the future could be prosecuted.
