A 24-year-old man accused of of possessing cannabis and cocaine will face trial on February 14, 2005.

Charles Maybury, of Simmons Lane, Sandys, is said to have committed the offences on January 29 this year.

He pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Magistrates? Court yesterday, and Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner granted him bail until the trial date.

A man accused of drugs possession and driving offences has been handed fines totalling $2,050 at Magistrates? Court.

Odell Smith, aged 22, of Daniel?s Head Road, Sandys, pleaded guilty yesterday to four offences committed on July 8, 2005.

These were possessing 0.69 grams of cannabis, not having a driver?s licence, having an unlicenced motor bike, and not having any third party insurance.

Smith also admitted a charge of having no driver?s licence on September 4, 2005 and was handed the fines by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner.

A man who swore at Police officers on Front Street has been handed a $300 fine.

Gilberto Pedra, 43, of Railway Trail, Paget, appeared in Magistrates? Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to using offensive words.

Crown counsel Paula Tyndale said the incident began at September 17 at 1.22 a.m. when Pedra beckoned to the officers saying ?I want to tell you something.?

He then swore at them and was arrested ? at which point he claimed to work for the CIA ? but later apologised.

Fining him $300, Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo, said: ?Next time you call the Police, call them for assistance, not to tell them what you really think. OK??
