Esso issues tenders to operate stations
Esso Bermuda is seeking operators for its Tiger Markets and service stations across the country according to an ad in .
Esso operates eight petrol stations Island-wide, seven of which also have a Tigermarket. A ninth petrol station and Tigermarket is scheduled to open in Warwick on the property of the Pembroke Hamilton Club (PHC) in the near future.
It was announced in March 2002, by PHC president Chris Furbert that part of the re-development of the sports complex would include a gas station which was said to be replacing the existing Riddell?s Bay service station.
Although he would not reveal the cost of the 20-year lease, Mr. Furbert said the proceeds would boost the club?s financial position significantly. When the lease expires, Esso would have the option of renewing it for a further 20 years.
Efforts to contact Esso were unsuccessful yesterday afternoon.
