Bermuda Civic Ballet students will mark the culmination of four weeks study with Vienna State Ballet soloist Ilonja Dierl and freelance dancer/teacher Shawn Mahoney with two public performances at Pembroke Sunday School tomorrow and Friday evenings, beginning at 8.30 p.m.
Their programme will consist of four pieces: 'Tempting Tchaikovsky', choreographed by Mr. Mahoney in neo-classical style, to be danced by eight dancers in four different movements; 'Once One Summer', a pas de deux to Gershwin's 'Summertime', originally choreographed for Mr. Mahoney, and featuring Alexis Brown and Lorien Slaughter; 'Listen to your Soul', a ballet for four women (Debbie Mello, Carey Hansley, Jaquie Mayor and Lindsey Fraser) choreographed by Ilonya Dierl to music by Rodrigo; and 'Fun in the '50s', choreographed by Coral Waddell, when the dancers will have fun and kick up their heels to '50s music.
Tickets ($20) are obtainable at Pembroke Sunday School from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Both instructors are familiar to Bermuda audiences, Miss Dierl having danced in the Civic Ballet's outdoor productions of 'Giselle' and 'La Bayadere', and Mr. Mahoney in 'Giselle' and 'Midsummer Night's Dream'.
