Barker Keith, a US-trained lawyer, is involved in all aspects of Sovereign's legal work.

He joined Sovereign from law firm Shearman & Sterling, where he practised corporate and securities law in their New York, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi offices from 1997 to 2002.

While at Shearman & Sterling, Mr. Keith represented US and foreign corporations and financial institutions in a variety of cross-border project finance, capital markets and restructuring transactions. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Keith was an active duty officer in the US Army from 1989 to 1994.

He has a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in Syracuse, New York, a B.A. in International Studies from American University in Washington, DC and attended the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the University of Valladolid in Valladolid, Spain.

Mr. Keith grew up in Venezuela and speaks fluent Spanish.
