SOFTBALL SOF Young Men's Social Club Blue Sox maintained their unbeaten status in fast pitch softball as they demolished Hornets 12-2 Wednesday night. Other results saw Bud defeat Flying Chef and North Village get by Canadian Sharks.

A six-run second inning began the demise of Hornets. This was keyed by James Pace's grand-slam off losing pitcher Steven Perinchief.

Stepping up to the plate in the sixth, Rich Stevens made `toast' of another offering by Perinchief, driving in another four runs with a homer.

The result put Blue Sox (6-0) two games in front of second place Warwick (4-2) while Hornets (1-3), with their second loss, dropped to fourth.

Third-placed North Village (2-3) inched their record closer to .500 as they took the lead for good in the fourth inning against Sharks and never looked back, winning 9-3.

Dean Williams and Antonio Clark both had two hits for the victors while Kim Hutchinson did likewise for the losers.

Hutchinson's all-round effort -- he also struck out eight batters -- went for nought as he received little help in the field. Sharks thus remain winless in six games.

In slow pitch action Bud moved into a first place tie with H/P based on their 17 hit performance, giving them a 20-4 edge over Chefs.

Chris Shuler had a grand-slam and Lloyd Jenkins and Joe Ceruwinski also left the park. The winning pitcher was Dennis Pamplin, while Paul Martin took the loss.

TARGET SHOOTING SHO Walter Trott scored 193 out of 200 to win the weekly shoot at the Prospect Range on Wednesday. Dennis Sherlock was second on 189.
