member of the religion's governing body -- the Universal House of Justice.

Hooper Dunbar, who has been here on a private visit, did speak to both the National Spiritual Assembly and to the general Baha'i community last Thursday evening.

Mr. Dunbar, an American, talked about the developments and progress made during this century, called the "Century of Light''.

He said Bahai's, unlike many around the world, look to the millenium with optimism -- seeing it as a development from the Century of Light.

Mr. Dunbar said although there may be problems ahead, the world is becoming more aware of the `oneness' of humanity and is approaching universal peace.

A former actor, Mr. Dunbar has lived in Latin America and is an author of books on the history of the faith.

He has been a member of the Universal House of Justice since 1988.
