Maria, Colin lead couples
Couples race yesterday, combining for a cumulative time of 46 minutes and 57 seconds to win top honours in the race.
In second place was Sandra Mewett and Winton Woodley, clocked at 47:47, followed by Jane Christie and Glyn Sexton in third with a time of 48:42.
Jeremy Ball and Peggy Couper grabbed first place in the Masters Division with a time of 49:34 while Rod Allen and Midge Oliver finished second on 51:23.
Third were Alan Boardman and Caroline Jones at 1:02.00.
First in the Married Division were Guy and Joy Kelly (52:52), followed by Margaret and Jon Hately, who crossed the finish line in 55:04.
Leading the Family Division were Eddie and Glennis Benjamin, clocked at 53:18.
Setting records among male runners were Brett Forgesson (20-29) when he crossed the finish line in 27:31. (Forgesson was teamed with Kim Mason and were fifth overall with a cumulative time of 49:20.) Other records were established by Daniel Smith (16-19, 38:29), Tracy Wright (30-39, 27:05), Ball (40-49, 28:43), David Saul (50-59, 35:38) and Michael Darling (60 and over, 42:27).
Women setting new marks were Emily Ferguson (16-19, 21:36), Conroy Haydon (30-39, 18:18), Sandra Mewett (40-49, 19:16) and Peggy Couper (50-59, 20:51).
BRETT HAD WRIGHT STUFF SLG Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club boats took honours yesterday in Fitted Dinghy action in the Granaway Deep.
Port Royal , helmed by Brett Wright, won the first race while Elizabeth , skippered by William White, took line honours in the second race.
Second in the first race was the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club's Contest , helmed by Andreas Lewin, while Elizabeth was third. In the second race Challenger , of the Sandys Boat Club and skippered by Jamie Harvey, was second with Contest third.
A total of six dinghies took part in the races as Echo (Martin Siese) sank on the windward leg of the second race. Michael Oatley's Victory was the other competitor.
The next race day is on July 10.
WAY KEEPS ATREAK ALIVE TEN Donna Bradshaw and Michael Way repeated their successes over Debbie Darrell and Ricky Mallory when they scored straight-set victories in the singles finals at the Pomander Gate Open yesterday.
Top women's A seed, Bradshaw, who beat Darrell in the Heineken Open, scored a comfortable 6-1, 6-1 win yesterday while Way stopped Mallory again, this time 6-4, 6-4 in the Men's A final. The victory denied Mallory of winning his fifth straight Pomander Gate tournament.
It was the third consecutive tournament victories for Way and Bradshaw.
Mallory had some success in the men's doubles final where he and partner Steve Bean teamed up to beat Keith Beattie and R.Marshall 6-2, 6-4. In the women's doubles final Wendy Frost and Diane Olchowik defeated Ailsa Campbell and Jacqui White 6-3, 6-2.
