The Parks department is asking members of the public to do its part in helping to reroot the many trees uprooted by hurricane Fabian.

"There are several initiatives in the works from our Department to deal with the problem of downed trees," said Parks Department Director Candy Foggo in a release this week.

"Hurricane Fabian has uprooted or destroyed many of our trees, not just in parks and beaches, but at numerous private residences as well.

"Our team is surveying the Island's parks and beaches assessing damage, and wherever possible fallen trees will be lifted and re-rooted. We are urging members of the public to do the same with trees that have fallen at their private residences."

She added that her department is working out a programme to provide replacement trees to residents who have "suffered severe tree loss" and the public will be informed as soon as possible.
