out against the Berkeley Institute Board of Governors last month.

The writ stemmed from some $400,000 in outstanding mortgage payments on property adjacent to the high school.

But yesterday chairman of the school's board, Mr. Calvin White, said the matter was never supposed to go to court.

And he said the board was expecting a letter of apology from the Bank of N.T.

Butterfield.

"I was quite surprised that a writ had been issued,'' Mr. White told The Royal Gazette . "When I heard about it I contacted the bank and was informed that there was a communication error. The matter was never supposed to go to court in the first place.'' The property in question -- which was occupied by some tenants who were behind in rent -- is to be used in Government's plans to turn Berkeley into a senior secondary school.

Senior manager of Butterfield Mortgage & Finance Mr. Richard Gibson yesterday confirmed that the writ had been withdrawn. But he declined to give the reasons and comment on Mr. White's call for an apology.

Hull to Barbados CON Narcotics Det. Ch. Insp. Norrell Hull will be attending a "Drug Squad Commanders Conference'' in Barbados this week.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the conference, which was initiated by the US Drug Enforcement Agency, will involve Police from most of the Caribbean islands "with a view to enhancing regional co-operation in the field of counternarcotics''.

Surveillance techniques, joint counterdrug operations, regional trends in drug trafficking, maritime law enforcement and money laundering will be among the topics discussed.
