Acting Governor Tim Gurney last night announced that Major Edward Lamb will become Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment later this year.

On the recommendation of the Promotions Board, Major Lamb will succeed Lieutenant Colonel David Gibbons when he comes to the end of his term in July.

Major Larry Mussenden will continue to serve as the Bermuda Regiment Second in Command. Major Lamb, who is married with two children, was educated at Berkeley Institute and the Bermuda College.

He volunteered for service in 1980, earned a commission in 1989, and has served a variety of posts withing the Regiment, particularly Aide-de-Camp to Governor Waddington between 1992 and 1994. He was Adjutant from 1997 to 2000.

Last night, Major Lamb said he was delighted to have been named Commanding Officer Designate, adding: "I am immensely pleased. I'm humbled to have been given such a great honour. I'm filled with a mixture of emotions, humility and honour.

"There are lots of tasks and targets that I will be aiming for. I will have to sit down and formulate plans, and directives for subordinates. Bermuda Regiment is an ever-evolving organisation and there are lots of challenges ahead, but I know we are up to the task."

He has served as Officer Commanding both Training and A Company, and, most recently, has filled the post of Special Project Officer.

Major Lamb has completed the All Arms Tactics Course, the Platoon and the Junior Command and Staff Course in Jamaica, Senior Commander's Course, and Territorial Army Command and Staff Course at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in England.
