Hive of activity: Alfred Konrad's photo shows Lyceum pre-school children getting a first-hand look at a colony of bees when they visited this massive beehive at a home in Paget.
A group of 14 students from Lyceum Preschool were yesterday treated to an interesting tour as part of their social science lessons.
Teacher Leslie Konrad took them to her cousin Wendy Densmore's home on Trimingham Hill, where a magnificent beehive kept them fascinated for the afternoon. Mrs. Densmore said she first noticed the hive at the end of January, when bees began gathering on a column on her porch. Investigations led to the discovery of its presence in an isolated corner of her garden sufficiently far away that she didn't worry about disturbing the bees or being stung.
