Constituency #30 - Southampton East Central - Zane DeSilva
Zane De Silva is a self-made business titan whose impressive record of accomplishments in Bermuda's mainstream economy spans decades. From humble beginnings as a dishwasher at a pub in Hamilton, Zane is now owner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Island Construction, one of Bermuda's major diversified local companies.
Zane is a conscious, civic-minded citizen who throws his company's support behind youth, educational, sports and faith-based organisations. He is a well rounded Bermudian who has the distinction of representing his country in several sporting disciplines as well as being on the Boards of a number of charitable and sporting organizations. Zane is committed to these causes and remains actively engaged in a variety of social and community based programmes.
Zane De Silva is also an effective advocate and activist for unifying Bermuda's ethnic groups, evidenced by his role as a founder of 'The People's Club,' one of the first running clubs to include significant joint representation of both black and white Bermudians.
Born and raised in the west end, Zane attended Boaz Island Primary School, Saltus Grammar School and the Bermuda College. He has been married to the former Joanne Brewster for 25 years and they are parents to two children, Zane Jr. and Zarah.
As the PLP Candidate for Southampton East Central, Zane strongly believes that education is the foundation of any great society and that our island must improve educational opportunities for all Bermudians. Further, Zane is committed to the PLP ideal that social justice is a key imperative for Bermuda.
Zane De Silva's track record strongly shows that whenever he sets out on a mission, he completes it successfully. His mission now is to convincingly win and represent Constituency 30 for the Progressive Labour Party.
