Bermuda made headlines in Biloxi yesterday thanks to the growing interest in legalising casinos on the Island.

Corporation of Hamilton Alderman Reginald Minors and Mayor Lawson Mapp toured the Mississippi city on Thursday with Michael Cavanaugh, a Biloxi lawyer who represents casinos.

The Biloxi newspaper, The Sun Herald, reported that the pair are looking to transform part of Hamilton?s waterfront, and drew correlations between Biloxi and Bermuda ? which are about the same size and have a history of illegal gambling.

The paper quoted Mr. Minors as saying: ?There is gambling in Bermuda. It?s not legal gambling, so much so that the Government is trying to address the issues.

?Do we make it legal, or do we not? There seems to be movement towards making it legal.?

Neither Mr. Minors nor Mr. Mapp could be contacted by yesterday. Mr. Mapp is off the Island until Sunday.
