Meet the candidates
Businessman Allan Marshall was elected to the House of Assembly in 1998 after spending a year as a United Bermuda Party government senator.
The UBP's spokesman on Development, Opportunity and Government Services, he was educated Saltus Grammar, St. Andrew's Preparatory School and Princeton University, where he gained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science in 1978.
He began working at Bank of Bermuda in 1978 and was deputy manager in the Treasury Department, spending seven years as manager of the Treasury Department in the Bank's Hong Kong office.
Mr. Marshall was Corporate Secretary and Portfolio Manager of Chevron Limited from 1991 to 1992 and from 1992 to 1996 he was President of Pure Water Bermuda Limited. He was President of ClearWater Systems from 1997 to 1999 and in November 1999 he became Director of Marketing and Investment Services at Argent Financial Group.
He has served on the boards of Bermuda Land Development Company and Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation, and was a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters programme from 1979 to 1982.
A keen footballer, he represented Bermuda at the CONCACAF Youth Soccer Tournament in Cuba in 1970 and was a youth delegate to the Munich Olympics in 1972. He also played for the senior national team in the Pan American Games in Bermuda in 1980.
He married Dr. Kietny Chrun in 1988 and they have two children, Kaliane and Jesse.

PLP candidate Patrice Parris was a Government senator during the last parliament with responsibility for Finance, and Community, Cultural Affairs and Sport.
The Executive Director of Big Brothers and Big Sisters, she was voted Big Sister of the Year in 1998.
She was educated at Berkeley Institute and Howard University in Washington, where she earned a degree in Business Administration.
Ms Parris worked for 11 years at Bank of Bermuda, becoming Trust Manager and Assistant Vice-President. She also worked in a managerial position at the Swiss-owned company Lombard Odier International Trust Company (Bermuda) Limited.
She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Institute of Directors, and was a deputy chairman of the Bermuda College Board of Trustees.
An avid Scrabble player, she is a member of Bermuda Scrabble Club, and of Pride Youth to Youth and the All Bermuda Tennis Club.
Last month, she married Bermuda Land Development Company manager Stuart Minors.
