Fined after 'gang' fight
A Hamilton Parish man was brought before Magistrates' Court on charges relating to an alleged gang fight between rival gangs in front of Escape nightclub.
The 19-year old defendant, Shaki Alan Jay Minors, was fined a total of $750 for being involved with the fight, and for being in possession of an illegal brass knuckle weapon at the time.
The incident took place on June 22 of this year when Police were observing a crowd of young men outside the nightclub on Par-la-Ville Street, Hamilton.
The crowd had gathered when Minors, of Rocky Lane West, and an unnamed man started arguing. As Police watched, Minors punched the other man in the face, and Police intervened as the crowd began to join in the fight.
Minors began running towards Bulls Head parking lot, where he was apprehended.
Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves fined Minors $750, $500 for the fight and $250 for being in possession of the brass knuckles.
When asked by Mr. Greaves if he had anything to say to the court before he received his sentence, Shaki Minors did not speak. He was ordered to pay the total fines of $750 on Tuesday, or risk spending 40 days at Westgate prison.
