Insurance company in bid to build marina
Insurance company Bermuda Fire and Marine has sought permission from the Department of Planning to build a 36 berth marina at their waterfront property.
Glenn Titterton, president and chief executive officer of BF&M, said the marina would be built off the company-owned dock on Pitts Bay Road. ?We?ve had considerable interest from the staff here and the staff at PXRE who also occupy the building,? he said.
The docks will be similar to the floating docks at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and the new docks at Pearman Watlington?s, which surround both sides of the water in front of the BF&M building. Mr. Titterton said the docks would be for used by small craft boats up to about 30 feet and would not be anywhere near the size of the surrounding docks.
?We are hoping to make use of that water front property and offer another amenity to our staff and the staff at PXRE.?
