Senior arrested for impaired driving

A 73-year-old Smith?s Parish man escaped serious injury on Tuesday night when he lost control of his car and collided with a utility pole on Harrington Sound Road.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said the man was travelling west along Harrington Sound Road at about 5.40 p.m. when he lost control of his car near the junction of Walsingham Lane.

While the car, a Daihatsu Charade, sustained extensive frontal damage as a result, the driver was not injured. He was however arrested by Police for impaired driving.

Advice for marniers

Following the recent high winds and rough seas, Police are also advising all mariners to check their moorings and vessels as there have been several reports of boats breaking their moorings.

Mr. Caines said some boats were reportedly also taking on water.

?We also want to remind all boat owners that as of April 1, their vessels must display the correct decals for 2005,? he said.
