Spring is in the air at exhibition
Forty of Bermuda’s finest professional artists and artisans are celebrating the joys of a Bermuda spring this week.A multimedia exhibition entitled ‘Springtime’ opens at the Windjammer II Gallery in the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Friday.Viewers will be treated to widely varied interpretations of the show’s theme, including large abstracts, marine paintings, landscapes and some florals — all of which have been especially created for the exhibition.“The artists are all very excited about doing springtime creations, and a lot of them have been out and about painting en plein air,” gallery owner Sheilagh Head said. “We are pleased to have Janet Percy’s botanicals and florals in the show, because she has just returned to painting her beautiful florals after a hiatus of many years. Ann Proctor’s floral watercolours are absolutely exquisite, and William (Bill) Ternes of Boston has done some great floral and marine paintings in acrylics and watercolours.”In fact, such was the quantity and quality of submitted works for the juried show that Mrs Head confessed she had a very difficult time trimming the numbers to fit into the two-room gallery. In addition to the aforementioned, participating artists also include Diana Amos, John Kaufmann, Chris Marson, Jody Tucker-Webster, Otto Trott, Diana Tetlow, Dean Walker, Sharon Wilson, Charles Zuill and Kathy Zuill.“We are a very serious, professional gallery, and the collection of work found here is the finest to be found on the Island,” Mrs Head said.Gallery hours are 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and noon to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free. For further information telephone 295-1783.
