A local company will launch a new business application tomorrow at BUEI that it says can decrease the costs of ownership of computer systems by up to 60 percent.

eVolution is a Bermuda-based Application Service Provider (ASP) that is wholly owned and operated by Independent Consulting Solutions.

Ed Flynn, business development manager at ICS, said that eVolution eliminates the need for businesses to maintain servers within their office space. Everything an employee does on the computer ? e-mail, personal files and computer applications such as Microsoft Office ? is stored on secure servers at Cable & Wireless and is accessible from any computer through the Internet.

?eVolution gives customers access to e-mail and file sharing and Microsoft Office applications that you and I use every day like Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets,? Mr. Flynn said. ?The crux for small and medium business is that it will reduce your overhead tremendously and decrease your cost of ownership on computer systems by anywhere from 20 to 60 percent. ?

Mr. Flynn said that the costs are lower because the application eliminates the cyclical expense of upgrading the more expensive parts of the computer system such as the larger servers and upgrading software.
