Real estate to be sold on Internet
to conduct business on the global Internet communications network, Bermuda Real Estate Associates (BREA) acting president revealed yesterday.
Ms Anne Spurling, with realtor Jones Waddington Ltd., said BREA members met last week to complete a code of ethics and procedures.
"We have selected Internet to be the medium on which we publish a new multiple listings service,'' she added.
Ms Spurling and Mr. Tony Harriott, Internet manager with Internet Bermuda Ltd.
(IBL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of BSL Holdings, made the announcement yesterday.
"This will offer the Island's residential and commercial properties not only here but also to 30 million clients world-wide,'' said Mr. Harriott.
There is the potential to include rental properties as well, noted Ms Spurling.
Internet is scheduled to be operation for Bermuda subscribers through IBL in January.
The BREA, with representatives from six of the Island's real estate companies, has promoted the multiple listing service within the real estate industry and are inviting all interested real estate companies to a meeting at IBL offices on November 16 at 10 a.m. for more information about the service.
