Photography exhibitions at City Hall
Photography is the focus of twin exhibitions opening to the public in the Bermuda Society of Arts galleries at City Hall on Saturday, April 23.
The Onion (main) Gallery will feature the Society's annual Photographic Exhibition, sponsored this year by Alea (Bermuda) Ltd. Entries from the Island's photographers were judged by a panel selected for their knowledge of and interest in both the arts and photography. There was no universal theme or specified subject matter, and film and digital photography were eligible.
The adjoining Edinburgh Gallery will feature an exhibition of works by some of the great modern masters of photography, selected from the private collection of Scott Stallard, and including Ansel Adams, Ed Weston, Henry Cartier-Bresson, and Philippe Halsman among others. In addition to the photographs, Mr. Stallard will be exhibiting part of his collection of cameras and camera-related equipment, including a candle-powered projector and glass negatives, dating from the mid 1800s to modern times.
