Bermudian named new Social Insurance director
Karen Daniels has been appointed director of Social Insurance. The Bermudian joined the department in February, 2001 as a financial controller.
"I believe there are tremendous opportunities and potential for growth and development within all areas of the department," Ms Daniels said in a press release yesterday. "Having acted in the post for the last six months, I must give credit to the staff who have been very supportive.
"Together we have already overcome some processing challenges, such as outdated automation systems. Other developments and enhancements relating to the Health Insurance Plan are in the works."
Ms Daniels, 41, was educated at Dalhousie University in Canada where she received a bachelor's degree in commerce. She is also a Certified Public Accountant. At Webster University, Ms Daniels received her masters in a double major of finance and international business.
