Gladwin Lambert with crew Greg Proctor snatched a first and a second place to take overall honours in the opening three-race Comet series of the West End
Lambert followed up a second place finish in the first race with a win in the second, before slipping to fourth in the final race. But his total points of 63 was two better than Howard Simmons and crew George Bailey, and Rudy Bailey and Glen Frith.
Simmons placed second overall by virtue of having finished higher in the opening two races. Simmons had won the first race of the day while Rudy Bailey won the third.
Racing is again scheduled for this Sunday at 12.30 p.m.
At the other end of the Island, David Wall emerged triumphant as the East End Mini Yacht Club also opened their new season with a three-race series for the F.C. Outerbridge Trophy.
Wall had a first, second and third place to total 53 points, one less than Byron McCallan who finished second. Colin Clarke placed third with eight points.
This Sunday club members will race for Ye Old Town Trophy, starting at 12.00 noon.
DARTS DRT Newly crowned Ladies Darts league champions BAA capped off their 1994 campaign in fine style with a 6-1 win over BPSA.
BAA needed to win to claim the title as they and RAA finished the season with similar won/loss records -- 16-2. But BAA got the nod on account of having garnered more points, 99 compared to 88 for RAA.
Meanwhile, second-placed RAA struggled to beat St. George's I 4-3.
Other games saw Moonglow down Mariners 5-2, Hamilton Parish defeat St.
George's II 4-3 and East End Mini Yacht Club get past Police East 4-3.
This Friday sees two select teams in action as the Committee takes on Pick of the League at BPSA, starting at 8.30 p.m.

GOLF GLF Barry DeCouto fired a one-over-par 71 to win Bermuda Golf Association's medal tournament at Belmont on Saturday.
DeCouto finished two shots clear of Mike Tavares and Eldon Raynor, while Eisenhower Cup team contender Henry Ascento was a further stroke back on 74.
SOCCER SOC Parents interested in having their youngsters participate in the eight-a-side soccer competition at East End Primary School field on Friday evenings should contact organiser Earl Basden at 297-1637. The tournament is open to boys and girls between eight and 15.
