Rugby Football Union's knockout finals this Sunday for the first time since
Second XV league champions Mariners grabbed a spot in the Rothmans Trophy final against Renegades after cruising to a 23-12 win over Teachers in a semi-final replay on Tuesday.
Mariners First XV, who came second to Teachers in the league, will try to deny the Reds a sweep of the major silverware in the Nicol Shield final on Sunday.
Mariners who drew 11-11 with Teachers after overtime last Saturday, were boosted by the return of Alick Roberts and veteran John O'Kelly-Lynch in Tuesday's match to overcome second team league runners-up Teachers, who had the services of national team players Scott Correia and David Cooke.
Mariners scrum half Bob Colebrook opened the scoring with two penalties and then converted Ben Burnet's try in the corner to give the Greens a 13-0 lead.
The Reds roared back as Correia set up Pat (Chalky) McHugh to make it 13-5 as Dennis Cherry missed the conversion. But centre Peter Mills scored just before the half to give Mariners a 18-5 lead at the break.
Wing Roman Romeo launched a Teachers comeback bid with a try in the corner which Cherry converted to narrow Mariners' lead to six points, but sustained Mariners' pressure led to speedy back Steve Allen touching down for Mariners to close the game out at 23-12.
SOCCER SOC The English FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Oldham Athletic will be shown live at the Robin Hood on Sunday morning at 11.15 a.m.
There will be a door fee to see the match which is exclusive to the Robin Hood on satellite television.
United defeated Oldham on Monday in the Premier League but the 3-2 scoreline shows how close the game was.
Three weeks ago United were odds on favourites to win the "treble'' of Premier League, FA Cup and the Coca Cola Cup.
But a 3-1 loss in the Coca Cola final by Aston Villa and last week's defeat at Blackburn in the league have raised doubts about them winning anything at all.
Oldham have recently been improving and are now looking good bets to escape relegation.
DARTS DRT Action in the Bermuda League reaches a high on Monday night in the men's First Division when National Sports Club I entertain Nationals II in a game that could decide the league title. Play is at Nationals at 8.30 p.m.
Leaders Vasco I will be idle bystanders as the two teams battle it out with only Nationals I having a chance of overtaking the leaders during this league finale. They need at least five points to pull it off.
But if Nationals II lose, another team with a chance of overtaking Vasco I are RAA who must take maximum points in their match-up against Vasco II.
While Nationals I are favoured over their club-mates in the big encounter, Nationals II will be no pushovers having recently defeated a strong RAA team last week.
Expected to lead the charge for Nationals II will probably be John Holder, Charlie Roberts, Bill Booth and Reggie Cabral while their opponents will be spearheaded by Boyd Lewis, Danny Ray, Steve Croucher and William Pickering.
BOWLING BOW Pembroke Juniors continued their fine run in the Barritt's Sportsmen's Bowling League on the weekend with Dean Lightbourn again spearheading them to a 21-6 victory over Mini Forwarders.

Warwick Whites edged Sparks 15-12 with Jesse Brangman rolling a 610 series and a fourth high game of 225.
