Public Safety Minister Terry Lister says Police are well on their way to nabbing the mob who hurled bottles and attacked Police in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Sgt. Brian Mello and P.c. Lucan Joseph were hurt in the attack but both have been released from hospital.

One needed stitches to his forehead while the other had cuts to his nose when bottles and other projectiles rained down on them as they tried to arrest two men who were fighting outside Tiffany's 24-hour store.

The flare-up followed fighting at the Esso City Tiger Mart in Par-la-Ville Road.

Mr. Lister said Police would leave no stone unturned in their efforts to get those responsible for the violence.

He told The Royal Gazette: "We have a lot of information as to who was involved - we had a lot of officers and a lot of eyewitnesses.

"So we are reasonably confident that within a short period of time we should be able to arrest those people who are responsible and bring them before the courts."

Three men swore innocence in Plea Court on Monday to charges of violence on Court Street during the weekend.

Kumi Harford, 24, of Pembroke, deniedcharges of obstruction of justice, and use of both offensive and threatening words on Court Street on December 22. His trial will take place on February 18.

Jakai Harford, 24, of Pembroke, also denied using offensive words and behaviour, as well as violently resisting arrest, obstructing Police, and assaulting an officer. His trial will take place on February 25.

Michale Adams, 18, of Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to use of offensive words and violently resisting arrest. His trial will also take place on February 25. All three were released on bail.
