Roberts clan on verge of selling business to Offshore Yachting
The Roberts family is poised to sell their Dockyard business to Offshore Yachting and Maintenance, Kirk Roberts confirmed.
A deal to sell North Basin Yachts, owned by champion power boat racer Kirk Roberts and his parents William and Barbara, to Offshore Yachting will likely be concluded later this month, Mr. Roberts said.
North Basin Yachts, formerly Woody's Yachts, specialises in restoration, repairs and maintenance of boats. The Roberts family bought the business in 1986.
Martin Purser of Offshore Yachting, located on Harbour Road, could not be reached for comment.
Mr. Roberts said his father, age 71, felt it was time to retire.
But William and Barbara Roberts grabbed headlines last year when they were charged in connection with one of Bermuda's biggest drug busts.
They were charged with being concerned with others not before the court and possessing cocaine worth $1.5 million intended for supply. Bail was set at $150,000.
