Mario Correia, of School Crescent, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to stealing the money from Gorham's hardware store on St. John's Road, Pembroke.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Correia was employed in the lumber yard at Gorham's.

But on August 9, head security officer Roderick Berkeley reported that money had gone missing from the cash register on more than one occasion.

Correia admitted taking a total of $800 which he said was used to fix his father's car.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis ordered that $800 of Correia's fine be used as compensation to Gorham's.
