Two men involved in the violent clash at Wellington Oval on April 4 pleaded guilty in Magistrates? Court yesterday.

Four men appeared in Plea Court relating to the horrifying spectacle in St. George?s eight days ago as Police sealed off the area around Magistrates? Court once again.

Each in handcuffs, John Everest Trott, Ki-Roy Kinta Butterfield, Kavon Earlstone Smith and Wolde Trott appeared before Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves to answer to charges ranging from simple weapons possession to attempted murder.

With John Everest Trott, from Red Coat Lane in St. George?s, also named as one of the victims in the assault, officers made sure to seat him on a separate bench from the other three men, all from the Paget area.

Wolde Trott, 21, of Tribe Road, was the first involved in the matters to plead guilty to an offence.

He admitted to possession of a machete at the fray, however denied a charge of having the machete in a public place in a manner to cause terror. Kavon Smith, 25, of Horseshoe Road, also pleaded guilty to weapons possession, in his case a knife. He similarly pleaded not guilty to having the knife in a manner to cause terror. Both Wolde Trott and Smith are represented by Leo Mills and will reappear in court on Friday morning for sentencing on their guilty pleas.

Butterfield, 27, of Cherry Hill Park, was charged with the attempted murder of Tarik Foster. Two other men ? Jachai Morris and John Stephen Glasgow ? have also been charged with ?attempting to cause the death of? Foster.

Butterfield also faced five other charges ? the attempted wounding of Kuma Smith, twice attempting to wound the aforementioned John Everest Trott, possession of a knife and having that knife in a public place ?in a manner to cause terror?.

Butterfield did not enter a plea as all six charges are indictable and will be tried in Supreme Court. His lawyer, Kae Thomas, reserved her application for bail for a later date.

John Everest Trott, 26, was charged with causing intentional grievous bodily harm to Kiwon Butterfield and with the possession of a six-foot piece of wood he was using as a weapon. Not represented, he was also not required to enter a plea as his charges are also indictable and will be tried in the Supreme Court.

All four men were remanded into custody and will join the four charged last week in Westgate Correctional Facility. The four charged last week all pleaded not guilty to a range of counts relating to the terrifying violence at Wellington Oval on April 4.

They will all appear for mention in Magistrates? Court via closed circuit television from Westgate on Thursday morning.
