Mother of dead man's baby is attacked
James Caines' child.
Denise Evans, 30, was attacked on a Pembroke Street in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Ms Evans, mother of Mr. Caines' nine-month-old daughter, was assaulted by two other women and suffered bruises to her head and face.
A Police spokesman yesterday confirmed a woman had been attacked on Pembroke's Curving Avenue -- the street in which Mr. Caines was gunned down by an unknown assassin just over a month ago.
The spokesman added, however, that the attack had not yet been linked to Mr.
Caines' murder.
He said: "The motive for the attack is unclear and the matter is under full investigation by Police CID officers.'' Ms. Evans, of Pembroke, was treated for her injuries at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and later released.
She could not be contacted for comment last night. The probe into Mr. Caines' killing is continuing.
