Donawa in dominant form
Reigning cross country champion Jay Donawa won the first race of the season at Chaplin Bay on Saturday. He won the men's open division in a time of 41 minutes and 55 seconds, while Sydney Richardson broke the tape in 45:19 to clinch the women's open division.
Kavin Smith (46:59), who was second overall over the three-loop course in the South Shore Park, won the men's masters division. Top honours among the women's masters, who ran two loops, went to Victoria Fiddick (32:40).
Deanne Lightbourne (38:31) won the girls Under-20 division, with Ashley Berry winning the girls Under-17 division. Under-17 boys honours went to Darico Clarke, while Shuntae Hendrickson and Kameron Creighton captured the Under-14 girls and boys titles.
Jordan Bascome and Nakeno Creighton claimed top honours among the Under-10 boys and girls divisions respectively.
