Caribbean Masters Championship in Oaxtepec, Mexico next month.
Leading the group as coach/manager/competitor is Duncan Newby in the 40-45 age group.
Other swimmers include Kevin Insley (30-34), Chris Smith (65-69), Margaret Marshall (50-54) and Zoe Hanson, Sara Mancell and Claire Mancell (all 19-24).
Newby, Smith and Claire Mancell were on the team of 16 swimmers which represented Bermuda at the last Latin American and Caribbean Championship in 1995 in Barbados. All three were medal winners at that meet when the team collected a total of 52 medals.
The championship will be a challenging one for Bermudians as the 50 metre pool is 1300 metres above sea level.
Among the competition will be top masters swimmers from Mexico, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Trinidad and Barbados.
CYCLING CYC BMX cycle enthusiasts are in for some excitement this weekend with a special clinic at the Devonshire Community Field on North Shore.
The Gotham City Daredevils from New Jersey will be on hand on Saturday and Sunday for a programme in which youths will be given instruction on jumps, landings, take-offs and safety precaution.
Registration for the clinic is at 1.00 p.m. on Saturday with the programme getting underway at 2.00 p.m.
The two-day workshop will be followed by a 25-minute professional BMX and freestyle demonstration at City Hall car park on Sunday at 6.00 p.m. In the case of rain, the demonstration will be held at Bull's Head car park.
Both the clinic and demonstration will be free of charge.
