Bermuda's only Olympic medallist will be presented with a People's Choice Award tomorrow.

The Friends of Clarence Hill are staging a belated parade of honour, something they feel should have taken place when the Olympian returned to the Island after the 1976 Summer games in Montreal, Canada. Mr. Hill won a bronze medal in boxing at those games.

Organiser Brendelle Hall said Mr. Hill will be met at the Bermuda International Airport at 11.30 a.m. by a five-car motorcade and will then be transported to City Hall for a prize-giving ceremony.

"He will be met by members of the boxing community, his Pastor Bishop Vernon Lamb and his family and friends," she said.

"The motorcade will take a route from the airport, along Palmetto Road, onto Bishop Spencer Road, down past Victor Scott School - his alma mater - along Parson's Road and then up Tills Hill, through Court, Reid and Queen streets and onto Church Street to City Hall.

"He will be announced by the Town Crier and will be met by the entire Victor Scott student body and the boxing community.

"He will then be presented a People's Choice Award by Forty Rego."

Ms Hall urged all of Bermuda to come out, join the motorcade and watch him receive his award.
