ACE Limited employees in Bermuda will partner with six Bermuda-based charitable organisations as part of the company's Global Day of Service marking its 20 anniversary.

And ACE employees in offices around the world will contribute their time to local community service projects.

Almost 200 ACE employees together with a few family members will work on various community projects at Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo, Project 100's residential facilities in Pembroke and in Southampton. They will also work at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute, Lefroy House Rest Home, the Teen Haven Residential Facility and at Windreach Recreational Village.

Senior associate Michele Connell has joined the Funds and Investment Services Team of Appleby Spurling Hunter in Bermuda.

Ms Connell is moving from the funds team of the group's Cayman office. Her practice focuses on structured finance transactions, hedge funds and other investment funds, as well as general corporate commercial work.

Ms Connell previously worked for eight years at Simmons & Simmons, in both the London and Hong Kong offices, specialising in securitisations, repackagings, CDO's and other complex financing structures. She acted for major investment banks and corporate issuers.

She attended University College London, qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales (non-practising) in 1994 and was admitted as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands in 2002.

Guardian Secure Document Destruction founders Leonard Aitken and Doyle Butterfield are offering their paper shredding and paper recycling services free to all public and private schools as well as to the general public.

Mr. Aitken and Mr. Butterfield have placed secure collection units at the Hamilton General Post Office where the general public can deposit documents for shredding and recycling.

They will collect the paper from the schools and the General Post Office, shred it in their industrial shredder and ship the remains overseas for recycling.

The first school to use the free service is Sandys Secondary Middle School and Guardian welcomes other schools to contact them if they are interested in participating.

Mrs. Kelly Baxter-Williams Head of the Science Department of Sandy's Secondary Middle School, said: "This is a good opportunity for our students to learn more about recycling. We already have a tin recycling programme so paper recycling is only natural. We would like to thank Leonard and Doyle for offering this opportunity for our students to learn."

Platinum Underwriters Holdings Ltd. has appointed Lily B. Outerbridge as vice president, director of investor relations.

Ms Outerbridge will be responsible for Platinum's internal and external communications, including investor relations functions previously performed by Justin Cressall, Senior vice president and treasurer of Platinum, who has assumed expanded corporate finance responsibilities.

Ms Outerbridge has over 25 years of financial industry experience, most recently with XL Capital where she served as vice president, investor relations since 2002.

CEO Gregory E.A. Morrison said: "We are pleased to have Lily join our team. Her professionalism and experience will support our commitment to transparent, high quality communications and strong relationships with investors and analysts."

Sapiens International Corp. has landed a software licensing deal with Bermuda-based IAT Reinsurance Company Ltd.

IAT will use Sapiens' reinsurance administration software.

IAT is the parent company of Occidental Fire & Casualty Company of North Carolina.
