A car caught on fire inside a garage on Union Street, Pembroke yesterday morning, but the cause of the fire is not certain.

The complaints neighbours awoke to a loud noise and saw flames coming out of the nearby garage.

They ran outside and managed to flag down a fire truck that was on its way to another fire on Angle Street, Pembroke. Bermuda Fire Service personnel subsequently attended the Union Street blaze, while other firemen went to Angle Street Deli to put out a garbage container fire. The container fire was extinguished without incident, according to a Police report.

The complainant of the garage fire told fire-fighters that his green Renault Kangoo car was intact when he left it in the garage at 7.50 p.m. on Saturday.

The garage blaze was quickly extinguished and is still under investigation. Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with information to call 295-0011.

Fire-fighters attended another container fire on Sunday outside of Jamaican Grill on Court Street and extinguished it without incident.
