Rochelle Marcia West, attempted suicide while at the Westgate Correctional facility yesterday.

It was the second time since his arrest that West -- who has been on suicide watch -- has tried to take his life.

West, 26, was scheduled to be in Supreme Court for mention, his lawyer Ms Patricia Harvey said yesterday.

"I heard about his attempt around 2 p.m.,'' she told The Royal Gazette .

"He's at the King Edward VII Memorial hospital. He lost a lot of blood, that's why he was not in court. It was a serious enough attempt to take his own life.''
