Spokesperson Robin McPhee yesterday said the issue was simply a matter of adjusting the power setting at the substation in Flatts.

"Transformers are placed at specific settings according to different times of the year,'' she explained.

"The setting that it has been at was quite capable. But due to the temperature dropping, it needed to be adjusted.'' The situation was not expected to happen again because Belco would continue to monitor it, Ms McPhee added. Power was restored to all homes in the area by 10 p.m.
