While Hurricane Fabian blew madly and stirred up the seas across Bermuda - thieves stole valuables from all across the Island.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said there were several thefts over the weekend.

Mr. Caines said a resident on Southcourt Avenue, Paget, had secured and left her home before the hurricane struck. But when she returned, she found that she had been burgled and several pieces of jewellery had been stolen.

A large amount of clothing was also taken from a Hamilton store. The owners of the Court Street shop said the break-in happened between Thursday and Saturday.

The BAA Club in Hamilton was preyed upon by thieves who broke in and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash from gaming machines.

The Devil's Hole Aquarium Shop was also broken into with thieves taking an undisclosed amount of cash and food items.

A Paget warehouse on Harvey Road had an undisclosed amount of cash stolen from it along with a large amount of clothing over the weekend.

And yesterday at 3.45 a.m., a man was arrested after a suspected break-in at Clearwater Systems on King Street, Pembroke. The man was apprehended after a foot chase with Police.
