Police welcome new Policemen
Millennium.
The graduation ceremony will be held at the Police Headquarters in Prospect at 4 p.m.
Governor Thorold Masefield, Premier Jennifer Smith and Home Affairs and Public Safety Minister Paula Cox will be among those in attendance.
The graduation is the result of the recruits completing a 16-week training course held last year.
A Police spokesperson said: "Any boost in numbers would be welcome and improve efficiency and effectiveness of policing responsibilities.'' A Police recruitment drive is held twice a year designed to encourage all those interested in a career with the Police and boost manpower.
The graduates are: Terryann H. Berkeley, Shirlene Marie Raynor, Earl R. Casie, Ihab Ahmed Azab, Khalid X. Muhammed, Jasmine Eugene Saltus, Roger John Saints, Errol Lloyd Peterkin, Malcom Troy Dill, Alexander Kenneth Rollin, Delfi Barclay Burrows, Alan Fitzgerald Looby, Natasha B.C.M. Focke, Gladys Calvina Wade and Christopher Sabean.
MAN ARRESTED AT BEACH CRM Man arrested at beach A 40-year-old Devonshire man was arrested for attempted robbery after he was discovered trying to break into a car parked at Horseshoe Bay Beach.
Police were responding to an unrelated call at 3 p.m. on Wednesday when they saw the suspect attempting to leave the area on an auxiliary cycle.
He was stopped and questioned.
The car in question was found to have signs of an attempted forced entry.
The man was arrested for attempted robbery and taken to the Hamilton Police Station.
MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUGS CRM Man arrested for drugs A 45-year-old Pembroke man was caught in a drug transaction.
Police officers watched the sale involving the driver of a car at the junction of Court and Elliott streets.
A search of the vehicle and driver, revealed a paper twist containing a rock-like substance.
The man admitted to owning the substance and was arrested.
He was then taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained.
BACKPACK STOLEN CRM Backpack stolen Two men were caught trying to steal a backpack this week.
An employee at the International Sports Shop on Bermudiana Road called Police on Monday to report suspicious activity around the shop's warehouse area.
The woman told Police she entered the warehouse to find two males inside, one of them carrying a backpack containing sweatshirts.
They left the scene without reply when she confronted them.
Upon arrest, the suspects admitted that they had been in the warehouse and had taken the backpack.
WALLET TAKEN FROM CAR CRM Wallet taken from car A woman's car was reported broken into at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess parking lot just after midnight on Monday.
She secured the car at 11 p.m. on Sunday and returned over an hour later to find that someone had broken the convertible cover and stolen her wallet.
The wallet contained credit cards, cash, identification and various other personal documents.
WAREHOUSE BURGLED CRM Warehouse burgled A Mill's Creek Lane, Pembroke store was the target of a theft.
Thieves on Monday broke into P.J.'s Warehouse, rummaging through drawers and stealing an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register.
There are no suspects at this time.
FIRE DAMAGES ROOM FIR Fire damages room A structural fire, caused by an electrical short, damaged a Pembroke home.
Firefighters, attending the scene at Pitts Bay at 6.37 p.m. on Wednesday, were able to contain the fire.
Approximately $800 worth of smoke and heat damage was caused by the fire, which was confined to a storage area.
