Billy's abstract adventure
At 17 years of age, Bermudian artist Billy West becomes the youngest exhibitor in the Masterworks Foundation's `Artists Up Front....Street' series, when his show, `Spirits Rebellious', opens at the Bermuda House Lane gallery on Friday.
Mr. West studied art throughout his student days at Saltus Grammar School, and will soon attend the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Britain to complete a foundation course prior to pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree.
He paints abstract impressions in oils, which he describes as "soft, with experimentation in colours and how they express emotions".
"Some paintings have a very natural feel and others have a very angular feel," he says. "You see trees in some and architecture in others without being explicit," he says.
The show will continue through June 15. For further information see the Bermuda Calendar.
