United Bermuda Party candidate for St. George's North, Kenneth Bascome, is a lifelong St. Georgian. The proprietor of Kippie's Place and the Kookery has been actively involved in politics for the last 15 years. In the 1998 election, Mr. Bascome was defeated in the polls when he ran as an Independent in the same constituency.

The recipient of the Best of Bermuda Gold Award in 2002 for Community Activist of the Year, Mr. Bascome is an alderman with the Corporation of St. George's.

While he mentors inmates in the Island's correctional facilities, Mr. Bascome also manages the soccer programme at the St. David's Cricket Club. Additionally, he is a volunteers at the Riding for the Disabled organisation.

Mr. Bascome is married to Rochelle.

Twenty-four-year Gavin (Sunjata) Smith is throwing his hat into the political ring for the first time during this year's election. Educated locally at Port Royal Primary, Saltus Grammar School, Berkeley Institute and the Bermuda College, Mr. Smith received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

One of four siblings, Mr. Smith grew up in the Southampton area and was recently married to wife Jenille.

Premier Jennifer Smith was the youngest woman to run in a general election in 1972. She has been a Parliamentarian for over 20 years. In 1980, Ms Smith was appointed to the Senate by the Progressive Labour Party, becoming not only the first female Senator but the youngest member at that time. In 1989 she became an elected member of the House of Assembly.

In November 1998, Ms Smith was the first elected female Premier of Bermuda. A gifted artist, Ms Smith also has a wealth of knowledge in the communications arena. A former journalist, Ms Smith has been the recipient of numerous awards. Her community work has included being a Charter member of the St. George's Jaycees and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bermuda National Gallery.
