denied bail by Senior Magistrate Will Francis.

Micah Straw of Palmetto Road was remanded in custody to Westgate. His lawyer, Mark Pettingill, argued unsuccessfully for the application, which was opposed by Leighton Rochester acting for the Crown.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Straw is accused of causing grievous bodily harm, unlawful bodily harm, and possessing an offensive weapon, namely a crowbar.

The Crown alleges that in late August Straw assaulted 36-year-old Andre Rawlins near the Devonshire Recreational Centre.

Rawlins, found bleeding and unconscious near Fat Man's Cafe on Palmetto Road, was taken to the intensive care unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
