Regiment soldiers were called up on Monday to search the Pembroke Dump for firearms.

Police denied yesterday that any weapons were found at the dump.

"I have nothing to say,'' the Regiment's Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Burch, said on Wednesday.

Sources have claimed a special force of Police and Regiment soldiers found a cache of guns and ammunition buried in the area.

The Royal Gazette was told soldiers were directed to a pile of stones where plastic bags containing machine guns and a trash container of ammunition were found.

Yesterday, a Police spokesman confirmed Police had been "conducting an operation'' in the area, but denied any weapons had been found.
