Carlos Manuel Sousa, 24, of 20 Middle Road, Devonshire, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to committing offensive behaviour in a public place.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Police on patrol near the Emporium Building on Front Street arrested Sousa when they saw him urinating on the pavement between two pillars in view of a number of people.

When Police approached Sousa they smelled intoxicants.

Sousa said: "I had a lot to drink. I had just come from a reception.'' Sousa, who had no similar previous convictions, was fined $250.
