Thefts spree across the Island
A "chubby" burglar got into a confrontation with a neighbour as he escaped from a home with stolen goods.
Despite the row, the offender successfully made off with a Nintendo Wii video game system, three Nintendo games and a quantity of alcohol, in the incident at Cloverdale Road, Devonshire, on Thursday, between 9.50 a.m. and 11.20 a.m.
Police arrived at the scene and carried out a search, but were unable to track him down.
He is described as light brown, between 5ft 4ins and 5ft 8ins, chubby, aged between 25 and 35, with a close haircut.
He was wearing a red and black shirt with knee length dark blue jean shorts.
The incident was one of a string of thefts across the Island in recent days.
¿A thief broke into a home in South Road, Warwick, between 8.40 p.m. on Thursday and 12.20 a.m. on Friday while there was nobody in.
The offender stole jewellery, a Sony Cyber-shot digital camera with a white case, a brown leather wallet and personal items.
¿In another incident, an intruder took a 20-inch Sharp flat-screen television and personal items after striking at an address in Idle Acres Road, Smith's, between 10 a.m. on Friday, August 24, and 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 30.
The family was overseas at the time.
¿Between 4.30 p.m. on Wednesday and 9.30 a.m. on Thursday, a culprit broke into a boat moored at Flatts Inlet and stole four Penn fishing rods and a quantity of marine electronics, including a GPS, depth-finder and VHF radio.
¿Police attended a reported burglary at a Cobbs Hill Road, Paget home Sunday morning. The complainants told officers sometime between midnight and 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, a burglar entered their home and stole an HP laptop and a white iPod.
Police are investigating the matter.
