Bermuda Select and President's XV shall be selected to play Bristol University.

Alvin Harvey is named as captain for the season and vice-captain is Ali Nicoll.

Bristol University have strengthened their squad with former students, including Jonathan Webb, a member of England's successful 1991 World Cup squad. They are scheduled to play three fixtures, with the newly-formed Bermuda Onions side being their first opponents on September 17 in a 10-a-side game. On September 19, they meet a Bermuda Select and close out the three-match tour with a match against the Bermuda President's XV on September 21.

Training dates for the squad are Tuesday, Thursday, September 10 and September 15 from 6 p.m. 8 p.m. at Police field.

GOLF GLF The Bermuda Golf Association Ladies team competing in the 14th Ladies International Invitational Golf Tournament at the Summerlea Golf Club at Montebello in Quebec, Canada, had a good first day of the three-day, 54-hole competition on Thursday as they lead the low gross division and are third in the low net.

Bermuda leads Southeast Florida by two strokes, 244 to 246, in the gross division with Ocean Reef in third on 249.

In the net division, Ocean Reef lead the way on 207 with Puerto Rico second on 212 and Bermuda third on 215.

Bermuda is also doing well individually with captain Judithanne Outerbridge leading the low gross division with a 77 while Pat Morgan shot an 83 and Judy Kitson an 84. Kitson and Outerbridge each carded 71s in the low net division while Sue Holland had a 73.

TENNIS TEN The second annual Grotto Bay Open Tennis Tournament, sponsored by the Shell Companies of Bermuda and hosted by Grotto Bay Tennis Club, gets under way on Wednesday, September 16, and runs through to Sunday, September 27.

This BLTA-sanctioned event will feature women's A and B singles, men's A and B singles, women's doubles, men's doubles and mixed doubles events.

Entry forms will be available at the Grotto Bay Tennis Club, Tennis Stadium, Coral Beach and Pomander Gate. Entry fees are $12 for singles and $6 for doubles. The entry deadline is Sunday, September 13, and forms and fees may be dropped off at either the Tennis Stadium or Grotto Bay.
